I'm progressing (slowly) with my poi.. i fancy learning another skill so that when i get frustrated with not being able to do one i can practise the other..
Stuck between staff and contact juggling can decided
(if not then i might just go learn silks)
What do people think? |

IMO staff because it compliments poi quite well and vise versa and once you can do some staff spinning move on to contact! is hard but well worth it.
CJ is also good but the hardest skill i have learnt so if your up for a challenge!
i think whichever one you think you will apply yourself more too |

CJ is very different to both poi and staff, and Mr Wah's quite right -- it's very very difficult to learn.
That said, I love it, and I'm glad I learned. I think they work together surprisingly well. Contact juggling teaches you a lot about how to move, and can give your poi spinning a much more graceful feel.
Take my advice if you decide to though -- get a big (80mm) hollow stage ball, and practice while kneeling down on the floor. Expect to drop it a lot till you get the hang of it.
Alternatively, there are a bunch of other skills you could try your hand at... Diabolo, Devil Sticks, 3 ball, fans, whips, nunchucks... |

i think there about the same there were alot at play
xan is right if you go for contact get a stage ball even go up to a 100mm as the bigger the ball the slower it rolls thus giving you more chance to get hand positions right
check out contactjuggling.org for a massive list of tricks and ministryofmanipulation.com for some inspiration
for staff hop's are good for begginers
but MCP and inspinerates for contact are mega!
good luck with your new venture |

Plus, it makes it easier to balance. Most CJ tricks are all about balance. There's a guy on YouTube called Brinechild. Search out his tutorials, for they rock.
As for male to female staff spinners, I know of a couple of spinnin' ladies. MCP's a girl. So's the lovely Mrs Lucyhappy.
Did I mention meteors? Meteors are kinda fun to learn... |
