Forwards to backwards weaves, you mean...? Confused

Have you thought about trying windmills? They should be nice and safe for you to try now! Very Happy

Cool. Smile

Once you have weaves and windmills in both directions, it pretty much paves the way for most other weave based moves (at least the simpler ones).

As for those butterflies, can you do them in both directions? Wink

hey iuno whats in the other 7 pages (well other than the 1st 1) but im also dyspraxic (?iuno if that spelt right coz i got disslexia 2 dahm it). but mine not at all severe and even less so since my mum spent a large chunk of my child hood training me 2 be coordinated.

i actually now have better ballance and coordination than most of my peers (so there is hope trust me) ny bac on track i just though u migh want 2 hear of this thing that helped me toe by toe its this book that has all these exercises in it to help with coordination, its really tedious but once you strat 2 get more comfortable with the exercise lots of other stuff gets easier 2. just thought u'd like 2 know pm me if u wanna 2 know more nd i'll see what i can dig up ^_^

Hey, if you could find out the title of that book, I reckon it could be helpful for all of us. Smile It always helps to have a bit more coordination!

This is a massive thread actually :o

Popinman, I think to some extent co-ordination work for dyspraxia is best done whilst people are still young, but nonetheless giving it a try would be great..

Do let me know the name of the book, sure :D

Riiiight
I don't know where I am going wrong :(

I can do a forward 3bw, turn 180 degrees and be in a backward one.
What do I need to do to make it into a move?

Actually, that's kind of a move already. Wink Ooo, and this'll be good for your coordination. Get comfy with your turns and practice things like turning and taking a couple of steps (forwards or backwards, whichever is easier). Then maybe practice turning back and taking another couple of steps. When you feel even more comfy, try turning and taking a step backwards as you do. Stuff like that. Smile

Once you're good with your turning, then you can try and make it into a fountain. First, practice turning high and turning low. Try bringing your hands either up or down as you turn. Try making it a smooth motion in sort of a half circle shape. These are essentially half fountains. Try and get the hang of the motion. When I learned these the first time, I learned them in 2 halves like this. Smile

For a full fountain, you're aiming to make 4 big circles in the air (see my lovely little picture here). It's basically a 180 turn and then another 180 turn back.

Here's an attempted talkthrough...

1. From a forwards weave, the first circle is your entry into the fountain. Just a normal circle.

2. As you go into the turn, bend your knees and make a low circle (around where your knees are).

3. You're now in a reverse weave. Just for one circle though. Smile

4. As you turn back, bring your arms up, making a circle around head height.

1. Turn back into a regular forward weave. That makes one complete fountain! Smile

Hope that's some help!

no the books actually called toe by toe i'll email my mum nd see if i can fish out the isbn no. also yeah young learning is far more effective than learning later on in life but no matter how old you are you can still bennifit frm the methods (basicaly helping rub out the wrong neron pathways in your brian physicaly most of the time : example when i was 8 my mum stood on my foot and pinned 1 arm 2 my side nd made me pass a ball back nd forth 4 ages, felt pretty stupid but after a year or so lots of thing that required single limb movment actually happened with just 1 limb (as in when i used 2 through all limbs would try 2 through) dahm i can't spell

hey! awesome stuff! i found this thread helpful!!
i dont know if u sorted the speed problem earlier but i find that if i use heavier poi they can be spun slower without losing momentum...
the heaviness might hurt a bit more but the slowness counteracts this!
hope that was of some use... if not then *shrugs* oh well...
i think that if you spent a couple of hours just working on keeping your planes parallel/straight it would really help!
i quite often spend a whole session infront of (but not too close to) a window so i can see myself and try to keep both the poi going

straight: | |

not wonky: / / or / \ or \ / etc

while i do some easy moves
(i copied your funky butterfly sketch!!)

Rather painfully... Still, I think I am getting there (depending on whether I am actually doing the right thing or not)
I can't wait to have it cracked :D

lots of bruses, walking into things, falling off things, fights with plants and other innanimate objects.
