Hey there!
First of all: Great site! I realy do like it, thanks to whoever put all the effort into making this happening, it allready helped me a lot
Well.. not realy much to say here - am from Germany, originally from Hamburg, now living in Karlsruhe (just donīt ask ) and am beginning to scratch the surface of hiting-myself-with-something-soft (for a change).
Uhm.. that came out wrong
I just meant to say that Iīve been practicing with escrima sticks and nunchakus for quite some time now and its a nice change to not realy do damage when trying something new (just talking bones here, not furniture and decoration ).
Well.. read you soon |

hi there - uhm, I bought them about 3 Weeks ago but due to my job I havenīt had the chance to practice that much so I realy am pretty new to the poiwork, I think the nunchakus on the other hand tought me a whole lot of stuff I can use here.. this is what ive managed to get right so far http://poipoi.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=459
Am I right in thinking that in england there is a pretty big scene for this poistuff ur did I just get the wrong impression because there are a lot of people from england in this forum?
be good & happy spinning;) |

Guten Tag!
Well, after thinking about this - Nunchakus basically are (from the artistic point of view) just really short-corded poi.
You either grip near the chain and have an exactly poi-like behavior with the advantage that bodystops/stalls are far more easy; or you grip at the rear end, giving you an extra joint right in the middle, so flowers are kind of built in
There is one difference though: all of the movement is coming from the wrist, there is hardly any chance of changing the direction of a nunchaku by just using one finger as you are able to do with pois so you will have a whole new dimension of dextirity-issues
I personally think nunchakus are somewhat easyer to "master" than pois because they react more directly to your movements/changes in direction/stalls and stops AND not to forget, you can always just grip the other end, something you canīt realy do with a poi, giving you some nice torso-/neck-/armwraps.
They can be mean bastards, this whole extra joint thing is something you have to get used to, in the beginning the nunchaku will do some pretty unforeseen stuff, but once you got the hang of this youll b able to do some pretty amazing stuff with them, just using the poi-moves and abstracting from them
Writing this, I realize I definitively have to build me something like a double glowball poi (something bola-like), as nunchakus are banned in Germany as I found out the hard way some years ago
That should realy be fun!
Hope to have given you the "gimmegimmegimme" feeling |
