Right all this has gone silent! We need to revive this beast and get it going :D
So we know who is interested in going.
Travel, Fix and LJ. What trains are you getting up there? If we can get details of that we can post it up as an idea for all southerners for an option that they could take. Would be most appreciated!
So can we start to get a date confirmed here? Like what day we get there and how many days we'll be there for?
It seems the general consensus is that it be in August. Arrive and set up on the Friday, stay and play for Saturday and Sunday, then pack up Monday when we wake up and get the hell out of there :P
This agreeable?
The sooner we get stuff organized the sooner we can start seeing how many people are positively going and are NOT going to bail out at the last minute...you all know who you are... |

Just did a few searches on 'tinternet!
Here's some travel info for people from the South who go via London.
The best bet is for us all to meet up in Kendal I think. It's the closest central place where we can all meet at stations etc. Then we can either drive out or get some massive taxi to ferry us out there for the cheap if there is loads of us.
So the info below is if people from the south go to Kendal Via London Vic and that it is over a period of four days (Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon)
National Express
If you take the National Express (Coach) then you gotta be up basically at ridiculous times of the morning just so you can get the coach that gets you to Kendal for 6:35pm which means it's an 11 and sumthing hour journey by coach...
The flip side to the disgusting amount of journey time is the price and the fact there is a toilet on board the coach! Yay!! Nothing like the odor of wee as you travel somewhere sitting near a toilet!! :D
It's £53.80 for an advance return ticket that isn't refundable but is amendable.
Otherwise a standard return is £61.30 which again is amendable but is also refundable.
National Rail
Right next we have the trains!
If you take the National Rail then you got more time to get yourself together and to the station as it takes considerably less time to get there!
It should be a 5-7 hour journey depending where you are in the south. I'm fairly close to London so it only takes me 5 and three quarter hours. But has a few changes along the way. But I think most of those are in London getting from London Victoria to Euston Station.
In terms of fares.
To get the return fare for the same four day weekend thing it's just under £100... Which is considerably more than it's National Express counterpart but gets you there twice as fast so you could leave later in the day to get there at the same day that first early coach arrives!
But...something that caught my attention was that the cost of an advance single. For the same train and everything is only £22...
So if you were cheeky and got an advance single to Kendal...then booked and advance single from Kendal back again...then you'd save a mint! but I'm sure they found that loophole along the way...
So yeah I'd advise for the trains get the saver ticket because an open is over £100 which is obscene just to travel across your own bloody country!!
Well all I hope this has shed some light on the whole travel front!
Unless someone has a car and can fit all of us in it as well as a tent and a little bit of luggage:P hehehe! That's our options!!

Sounds good to me mate!!
I'm taking it that everyone is in compliance with it being in August so we'll stick with that for now :P
I'm fine with that date! Dunno bout you other folk!
I think you can get advance train tickets for the dirt cheap as well. So as cheap as national rail, get there twice as fast etc etc!! |

anyway I passed my driving test about a month ago so if i did come/ am still invited ? id drive up which means i could potentionaly take one of you southeners up with me in the car which would save you some cash if it is realy £100 of quid on the train.
Dae you'l have to keep me updated as i rarely spend time on forums etc. |
