righteo, although can i suggest this site
http://www.inoxia.co.uk/rw/category/12.aspx
its a pyrotechnics chemical supplier i go on (all legal and stuff if your over 18 that is)
if you know your chemicles and need to get some then i think this site is very useful, although all i have done on there is get ingrediants for stinger rockets (soooo much fun!) and loads of lycopodium powder (dragon powder) for fire breathing |

i use Parrafin all the time but i have used white spirits on occassion. it gives a larger flame but also burns at a much higher temp and can be more dangerous to wrap with...let me just say this..

I third that notion. Although standing 10 feet away from someone doing a burn-off is a great way to get a bit of heat in you at this time of year :D
Also, had anyone here spun with brillo-pad cages? |

it wasn't brillo pads although that could work also! but its a bit more of an expensive option i think
what you do is, go to a shop like B&Q or another DIY shop of the likes, buy a pack of medium of fine gaged steel wire wool.
for the cage i used chicken wire as it lets alot of air through and the sparks can fly out better i feel.
have your cage un rolled out on the floor, lay two strips of about 2.5 feet length wire wool on it, but they have to be side by side to ensure it fills the cage adequately, then roll up your cage and close it, to ensure safe closure i use cuts of copper wire to ensure the cage stays shut, this hasnt failed me yet *touches wood* and then securely fasten to your poi, and with this comes a warning.
wire wool can be very unsafe, if the cage flys off theres risk of injury if anyones around you!!
then soak the cages in your paraffin pot, shake off any immediate excess, light, wait for it to start cracking and spin for the godly life of you! then after a while the excess paraffin dissapears, when that happens, the sparks BOOM out and looks amazing
lots of variables can effect the spin time or the amount of sparking you can get, ie packing it in to tight so not enough air circulates through the wool, or not enough paraffin, then it just glows some and it fizzed out rather poorly lol so its best to try loads of combinations, i find that the two 2.5' lengths work best, but please try them out! and if you wanna be fancy, if you can get hold of copper and iron shavings, you will get varying in colour as it burns
DONT wrap them round your kevlar lol, its best if you have some cages made that can just clip onto your chains |

Just seen that pic, it's amazing :D
Also, if you have a spare 9V battery around, you can light the wire wool from that |
