Hello fellow poi folk! Smile

Im new to all this so ill start at the beginning.

A few weeks ago my friends started putting tennis balls in tights and doing something called poi, following the trend of my friends I started having a try for myself and found that I really liked it and I wasnt that bad either.

After a few weeks of my stretchy tights getting longer and longer I decided to buy myself a proper poi set today and I was beaming on the bus ride home from the shops. I bought some mouse tailed poi but havent really had the chance to practice yet, the weather here is terrible.

We have a small hang out that we call the green (its more like a large grassy roundabout) and we had alot of onlookers watching us as well as some chavs that decided to play shuffle penny (lame) to take the mickey.

My friends and I have been to Stonehenge for the past three years and this year we would like to take our poi with us and join up with the fire poi people who go there too. We have seen them there every year so far.

I would love to do fire poi one day as it looks so impressive.

Thats enough from me anyways, ive told you too much already lol.

Enjoy the poi people!

Welcome Louise.

Nice to see more new faces. I would love to fire spin on stonehenge. The amazing pics you could get there.

If you need any help with moves feel free to ask. We love to help.

Can I ask what type of poi you bought?

Fire poi is great once your experienced. I think its what ALL poi spinners aspire too. And you will certainly enjoy it when you decide to start.

Unfortunatly Chavs are something you have to put up with. Not everyone is nice about poi. They think its looks gay or girly, but just remember, when your spinning balls of fire about your face, they will soon eat their words.

Peace
Aj

Well the first poi I made myself were from my daughters stripey tights and some tennis balls with slits in them so they didnt hurt so much. Unfortunateley these tights could fit me now let alone my daughter.

The poi I bought are white mouse ones with pink tails, they hurt alot less but tangle easily and take twice as long to unravel. Im hoping to get some sequin stars and different shapes to sew on them so they shimmer when the sun comes to stay.

So far I have mastered the butterfly, one hand reels, two hand reels (crossing) and parallel reels (I dont know all the technical names). Im trying to tie all the moves I have so far together into one fluid movement without pauses (or messups).

Thanks for your support guys, be sure ill be stopping by when I get stuck.

Daedra, If you do have a day out at the beach we would love to come and join you, theres about 5 of us trying to learn at the moment. We can bring some food and booze!

Next time were down the green having a poi sesh ill take some pictures on my camera phone and post em up for you all to see.

Enjoy your easter holidays everyone!

Welcome along!

Agreed about the Chavs. Some of the local charvers around my area are complete idiots.

Fire is great, the roaring sound it makes <3. Although, it's a must to have a routine which you know you can pull off perfectly.

Agreed with AJ, if there's anything at all that we can help with, ask Very Happy. There are some uber spinners on here... hehe

welcome again!

Hello again...

I have posted 2 pictures up in the gallery, one is of me doing some poi the other is my friend Nik who should be signed up very shortly. It was a very sunny but cold day and I have a chest infection so I look a little red in the face. (hence the big coat)

Nik is a DJ and took my brand new poi with him to show off to the crowd at his resident nightclub, he turned his back for 2 shakes and some chav made off with a single poi, now what the hell is someone going to do with one poi.
(have half the fun, thats what)

You know who you are and if I see ya walking round with my spare poi, ill poi-son ya...haha get it!

Fortunateley my friend went and bought me some more poi today so I have lost nothing but gained a funny story to tell you all!

Ok..

[rant]

ARGH. THe cheek.

I think some people from my college took on of my mates poi too. I was the same, why one?

IN my case it was probably because they wanted to stop him oing it.

In your friends case it was probably because they could, and there limited brain cells dont care what there stealing.
