hey, ive had my poi a couple of days and have learnt the basic stuff, 3 beat weave, windmill, hip/shoulder reels, split reels etc but am finding the 5 beat weave really hard, has anyone got any tips?

sorry this is going to be a horrid explantion, as i really am rubbish at explainin stuff lol
but what I do, is move my hands in a three beat motion, then to get the extra beats, teist my left arm around my right wrist before bringing it back to my left, still tangled around my right rist, then untangle, adn re tangle to get the 5 beats, before coming over to the right. |

I was the same, and then it just seemed to click 
I still hit myself though and it aint perfect yet, but that's what practice is for :D |

You poi shouldnt tangle at all in a 5 beat. it only needsa tangling if you want to do 7 or nines. |

I meant your wrists tangle, or look as if they do. Or at least mine do :S |

Aaah yeah thats right mate.
I thought you meant the poi tangle. But yeah your right, your left hand comes back over and under your right to make the extra beat, vice versa on the other side |

well if you are doing 7's and 9's you can make yourself look like a complete idiot by not poi tangelling lol, i remember looking at meself in our mirror doing a 7bt, i laughed inside!!
but yet i still do it that way, does 7's and 9's come out smooth and in time of you tangle? i heard they fall out of beat when you tangle.
But yeah timmy and AJ explained it nicely! i remember when i first got them, i was there questioning how the hell i hadn't managed to get it before!! |

| The guys I spin with are having acompetition to see who can get 7bw first. i think i might try n get it over the weekend before them, just to be a bugger :p |

| ez ppl, yeh 5bt took me ages reverse 5bt took me even longer lol, i do 7bts by lettin them wrap they dont go out of time but it makes one poi go abit shorter which kinda annoys me but i think it looks alot smoother than tiein ur arms in a double knot, there is a tutorial on dmp for the 7bt as well woooo |
