Hi,
I'm Kate, i'm from Tasmania, Australia, i've been poi-ing for about a week now.
I can do butterflys, weaves, reels, hip reels, shoulder reels and reel turns.
and can't wait to learn to do heaps of exciting new things.
I finally got my rainbow tailed poi today, they're great, they feel so much better for doing tricks than the poi i made myself last week out of hacky sacks.
Anyway can't wait to have a real look around this site and get to meet a few people.
Happy Poi-Ing Smile :D

Hello there Kate!
Well, welcome to the forums! So you've been learning the poi eh! Well I direct you toward the tuition section if you haven't been there already! It has alot of good tricks on there and should be more than enough for you to put together a great routine or impress your friends with a freeform spin:P
As you advance and find yourself learning harder tricks, don't be afraid to ask anyone on these forums for help, their all really friendly and can help or point you in the direction of someone who can!!

Take care and happy spinning!

Thanks!
I'm about half way through learning all the tricks in the tuition bit, butterflys are giving me problems though.
Practice, practice, practice i think is the way to go.

Yeah i'm getting through the tuition quite well, i think i'm going to get stuck real soon though.

No i don't know the Tasmania instructor, i know a few people who know a few people who fire twirl, but they've all just taught themselves.
Kinda a friend of a friend of mine kinda deal going on there.
I got LED glow poi today in the mail, can't wait untill tonight to try them out.

Very Very sad i am.
One of my brand new led poi just snapped in half :(
only the second time i've used them, only tapped it against my leg, i was only spinning real slow, and had them wrapped in 5 layers of bubble wrap.
Oh well, can't be helped i suppose.

Anyway yeah tassie is a beautiful place to dive.
I try and dive every weekend if i can, but it gets a bit cold in the winter so i might swap scuba for spinning for the winter this year.
:)xxxx

Yes I agree I love that little quote. I would like to call these types of non-conformist lonely people trying to look for a home.... so we can't blame them completely(?) I am the Lady_Basha from the USA.... i love to spin fire.... but I can't find the round balls of wick with the chain so at the moment I am using some LEDs and well my home made fire spinners were not balanced well I kept hitiing myself.I also use the Cobra II it is a nice day time poi great for trying new spins. Enjoy that diving... toodles
