Has anyone found that if they do more than one toy like poi and staff for example that it improves your poi, because i dabble in quite alot i find that all the skills interlink and i find alot of moves easier because of this.
So theoretically if you do poi and staff you should be good at meteor.
Devil stick has alot in common with poi wibbles and contact poi, and i feel because i can do some basic devilstick i found wibbles easier to control ive no where near mastered them tho (on a side note has anyone tried using a contact poi with handsticks??)
Its like CJ improves your balance, contact staff helps with body movement and juggling hand eye co-ordination all which can be applied to everything else.
Plus the fact that if i get annoyed with staffin i can pick up my poi and feel content lol or vise versa.

Integration of the left and right hemispheres of the brain means that parts of your body can be independant with little thought about it, like patting the head and rubbing the belly.
I played piano for years and I think I wouldnt be able to poi so well if i hadnt had all that time seperating my hands from wanting to do the same thing.
Mixing is another good example, pro scratchers have to be able to do seperate things with each record as they spin, they come so close to actually being ambidextrous.
I wonder if I could play the piano and poi with the other hand...and theres my party trick!

weeeeee i love the fact that J glides! your the only one that i know that does it(^_^)
i used to practise staff when i was on the pc alot, doing rolls and throws and some contact stuff, but when it comes to the poi i dont have enough room to be throwing a meteor around one handed when doing stuff indoors |

Haha, my ATC is the worst run thing ever.
But we have this one member of staff who's just a legend, and is the reason I stay. He gets us as much as he can.
Plus I have mates there. |

I'm jealous of you both :p
Only been up in a glider twice. The first was cool, I got to fly when we were up around 2/3 thousand, and then the guy went and took us down low over the ridge :D Second time there was low cloud and hardly any uplift, so just did 3 circuits :(
But still, I'm hooked, just need a job to pay for it :p |

lol gliding is awesome. I use motor gliders though. No faffing around with winches and aerotows, can just shut the engine off in flight, but you do get a lot of stick from orthodox, purist glider pilots.
One of them landed on our runway cos he was too low, he had 2 other CIVILIAN runways to choose from and he chose us. haha bad move. RAF police had to get involved and everything. Then their aerotow plane came STRAIGHT OVER THE CIRCUIT and we were like WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?
And then we were talking on the ground and they were like 'oh yeah, where we are theres absolutely no air traffic control, it's nice'. was thinking 'yes, clearly by your absolute disregard for safety in the circuit you have never operated under air traffic."
Its not even as if our air traffic is complex. The only thing one ever says is 'rejoin'.
Rule #1 - Don't go the wrong way in the circuit. No matter how cool you think your flying club is ¬.¬
Woo that was a big rant!
There's a picture of the glider type that i fly in my personal gallery. |

| i find its good to swap between skills, when you have hit a brick wall with a poi move it helps to concentrate on my CJ or staff for a while, then i go back to poi refreshed, it helps to stop me trying tooo hard to nail something, which can be a problem sometimes |

| i completely agree! I think its probably because doing that makes you forget the move you're stuck on - thereby erasing the wrong technique you've been practicing - or at least thats what i found with my btb weave |
