hehe only for something small, but hey!

I've currently got a paif of Fat Mouse (I think that's right!) poi, but when I bought them I wasn't offered a choice of colours or anything, so I got stuck with orange and yellow...which is all veyr well for my garden but for times when I venture out I want something a bit better!

I don't know what type of poi to get next. I don't think I want sock poi.....

Anyone got any ideas??

depends what you want, glo poi is always a good purchase, and you should get a pair of socks just make your own is well easy (not saying you have to! lol its just they are very good for practicing and later on some moves will be a hell of a lot easier with them.) but there is a massive range of flags about. Check the poipoi shop and these ones as well www.oddballs.co.uk
www.firetoys.co.uk
www.homeofpoi.com

all very good Smile

Erm...not sure tbh! I'm not trying to impress anyone, I just want to have something a little different to the triangle bean bag type ones I have at the moment, that's all.

What are the advantages of having sock poi? and could you maybe point me in the idrection of a tutorial for making them...?

I think Socks are a good pair of poi to have! and yeah i would say make your own, then you can have it whatever you like! i have UV White socks, they so soft! mmmmmmmm(^_^) but anyways!! yeah it comes down to personal preference, you can make them as long or as short as you like and do the colours yourself etc!

felixwah sent me the most absolutely incredible tut for makin socks (mine have counterweights so throws and wibbles are easy but yours don't have to) and i shall pm you it.

I love mouse poi. I don't know about fat mouse, but my mouse poi are by far my favourite daytime poi. Why not spend an hour browsing the shop?

You'll soon find something you like.

NB - those poi arent much different except the tails are just strands of ribbon rather than being one big sheet of material.

Thankyou Smile

I've had a wee look in the shop and I quite like the look of the Cobra 2's.....I like the versatility of them.

I think my fat mouse poi are pretty much the asme as the normal mouse...maybe they're heavier? I didn't get them online so I don't know the actual
difference lol.

And thankyou re: the reibbon poi! They look so purdy... Smile

how to make sock poi ;P

ok you will need one pair of knee high socks
scissors
1 sewing kit
rice, ballons, scales, pencil/pen and funnel or if your lazy juggling balls

1 - get your knee high socks and cut them at the heel (or above depending how long you want them and take into account stretch) in a shape like this ( so the ball will fit nicely in the bottom.

2 - turn the sock inside out and sew the cut. (do it twice so it is strong)

3 - repeat steps 1 and 2 with other sock

4 - Lazy option insert juggling ball

5 - non lazy option - get your ballon stick the funnel in it and fill with rice you will have to poke the rice down with the pencil and if it gets annoying take the funnel out blow the balloon up a bit and all the rice will fall to the bottom. repeat until you get to desired weight 90g - 130g depending on how heavy you want it.

6 - once at desired weight suck the air out of the balloon and tie. now cut the top bit off another ballon and wrap that around the rice filled one. (this makes it waterproof and machine washable)

7 - pop the ballon in the end and if your feeling fancy sew the balloon in at the bottom of the sock.

8 - to make contact poi repeat step 5 but do it a 3rd of the weight of your original poi head weight eg 30g for a 90g head. and add to the top (hair bands work good as does thread but sewing is the strongest)

taaaa-daaaaa brand new sock poi Smile

Erm... There's a certain website that sells premade counterweighted sockpoi... And though they're out of stock at the mo, they sell LED sockpoi too.
But I don't know if I'm allowed to say who it is. Wink
