I'm getting what I like to call "hurty fingers" My peace fingers don't want to poi anymore because they've been poi-ing too much and they hurt.
Any suggestions?
lol... this may be a completely ridiculous question. |

Man... how're you holding your poi? Maybe you need some gentler fingerloops... |

I'm holding them with my peace fingers... and then just making a fist... The lady I bought the Poi from told me that was the best way to hold them.
I've been trying to come up with an excercise that might help (like the ones you did when your thumbs hurt from too much nintendo, gave you another hour or more of game play. lol) |

| With my mouse and other various poi i never use the loop holes, i just find them way to uncomfortable. What i do is just put them in the palm of my hand and then just clamp my fist shut, that works fine with me and have never really had trouble with that method! but no if your fingers are hurting you should definitely find away to pad them out maybe? |

| i tend to use the middle fingers....i find i have more control that way...maybe alternate or replace the loops with cotton ones...you know, make them out of cotton ribbons or something |

If you holding them and the bottom of your fingers (so there no finger space below) then you'l end up removing large quantities of skin as i did when i first started, best place is half way up inbetween you two finger joints, i now have large scars where i used to hold poi at the bottoms of my finger as there sort of scrape away your skin |

Some of the nylon finger loops can be really static like card and rough to spin with especially if their singed by flames. Like guitarists do on their fingers, you build callouses which are like hard bits of skin, i got these on my fingers mostly from writing with a pen but the poi finger straps make them really sore.
Cotton finger loops are the best or some long ribbon doubled round on itself, you could even try wrist straps, i've seen em but not used em.

Thanks for all the tips, I'm going to try replacing the straps, I have nylon straps, like the kind that are on outdoor equipment.
If that doesn't work I'll try holding them in my fist.
I know all about calasses, I'm a bass player. lol. |
