|

Hi everyone
My question for you guys is: What move did you archieve to do on your first day of spinning?
Or what move did you achieve first?
For me i was in a weekend camping with friends and i tried glow stick poi and i found that really nice. When i came back to my house i made myself some practice poi with tennis balls ( I wouldn't recommend that for a beginner, it hurts!!!) and i could do 3beat weave on the first day
Now its been about 1 week since i started and im able to do some more moves(Buttlerfly, buzzsaw, windmill take-outs, and some variation of my own :P ), and still learning!
Im trying to learn Hyperloops but damn its hard :P
I also made myself some socks poi and i ordered some glow poi and i hope they arrive soon :D |

Yea i made the tennis ball poi too, god they hurt when they hit you xD
And first thing i learnt was a butterly, followed by a weave, followed by angel wings |

On my first day I was really proud to be able, after hours of practice, swing both poi forwards, in a circle, at the same time!
(Needless to say I can do rather more now) |

First day... Butterfly. Coincidentally, that caused my first poi-related injury and I had to sit down for a while.
On the second day, I learned the 3-beat weave...! |

| i managed to pick up the 3beat weave and the butterfly in about a day so i was really happy of it but i can do a little bit more now, not much but i can still do it :D and tennis balls really hurt if you smack yourself in the eye trying to learn a trick or two lol. |

For me it was butterfly and angelwings...
I think I may now be impotent after the number of times I hit myself in the babymaker trying to nail my angelwings lol
EDIT: And I just nailed forward 3BTW

First time i ever SAW poi was at a youth event at the Thainstone Centre where some people that i knew were teaching it... there was a girl from the year above me who had been doing it for years and she taught me all the basic FW and BW parallel, split time parallel, split direction parallel,
then i went back later and learned the 3BT weave and the butterfly. the girl who taught me is amazing and unbelieveably patient!! she changed my life that day! (omg that sounds really corny but its true!)

i was on a D of E camp with my school, my friend Laurie was spinning makeshift camp poi made from camping socks rolled up and shoves inside more camping socks with bracelet glowsticks attached to the ends. i was like WOOOOOOOOOOAH and he let me have a go and after ages of looking REALLY tense and silly and spinning them i got 3 beat weave :D i was so chuffed.
Laurie and I have been going out a year now. Ahhh what wonders poi does for your life! |
