yeh sound man good transitions are stalls and wraps , they make a smooth way to go between weaves and butterflies. check the introduction to stalls and in the tuition they have a wrist wrap but you can stop the poi on your arms and legs and its the same with stalls there are so many possibilities just play around with them. hope that helps Smile

Indeed! Stalls are a lovely way to transition. They're great. But not the only way!
Personally I'm not a fan of wraps..
but each to their own. Have a play with them Smile

-Split time same direction hip reels goes nicely up into a windmill.

-Butterfly can go into opposite direction hip reels.

-Turn 90 degrees with a butterfly and you got yourself one poi spinning forwards and one backwards, do with that as you wish!

I'm trying to think of more. As there are an *infinate* number of things you can do. Unfortunaly I cant list any more than 3 off the top of my head. They all sort of come naturally to me whilst spinning!

Have a play around, look at the timing of your moves, and consider what other moves have the same timing (like the afor-mentioned hip reels into windmill).

Hope this helps Smile

Some good wraps:

Whilst spinning 3 bt weave turn nighty begrees. Let one poi hit your arm- you are now in butterfly.

Whilst doing ttn let one poi wrap around your arm- pull out to weave (turning 90 degrees).

Whilst doing reverse mexican wave lift one leg behind you - let a poi wrap- out to weave.

Spirals and cuffs are good ways of reversing the direction poi are spinning.

Simple arm and leg wraps can also reverse direction of spin.

Hope that helps!!! :D

Neck wraps?
All I can think of hearing that is a game of hangman... :P
Anyone got a movie of a move like that?

Also, legwraps, are they the best thing to use to get the pois spinning opposite directions?
I'm still working on getting my coordination seperated good enough in both arms/hands and think learning to switch way while moving is a great way of working on it Smile

neck wraps are amazing.... i just wouldnt practice them with fire or wire poi, id surgest socks at first... less chance of getting a friction scar around ur neck... as the poi is spinning across the front of ur body (right to left then over) as they are coming over split ur left hand behind ur back and let ur right hand go over the back of ur neck (from the left side) let ur neck take the momentum of the poi ( you have to move ur neck with the momentum) copy the poi movment with ur head (small circle infront then one behind) as u go to the behind one it 'should' come out spining the oposite direction.

sorry if thi8s makes no sence, im not amazing at describing the actions of my poi... they usualy do it themselfs :D dont go hurting ur selfs trying this one Laughing

I see lots of people seems to use Sock poi, are these easier to practice with or is there another reason many people use these?

not only are they easyer their are a few tricks that either need or are just a lot easyer to do with them... and if u want pretty effects they sell wicked hackky sacks that glow that u can put into ur sock poi in the PoiPoi shop. I would also recomend buying the sock poi from PoiPoi too as these have a really nice stretch to them (which takes a little getting use to but all in all are really nice to use)

SOCK POI ARE THE FUTURE 8)

Sock poi are really handy- they are easy to use and don't hurt so much when wrapping.

I can only do 1 nice neck wrap and thats the duel choke. You spin a butterfly and let both poi wrap around your neck, then you fling your head back and they undo and go back to butterfly!!!

Leg wraps are good- and so are arm wraps.

when doing a weave cuffs are a very good way of changing the pois direction!!!

I just learned the Split Shoulder & Hip Reels Linked last week and I must say this move is amazing to learn! It feels like it opens up alot of possibilities for transitions and it makes it all feel alot more smooth.

Are there any more moves that anyone knows now beforehand that it opened up alot of possibilies for them? Would love to read other peoples tips and hints aswell! Smile
