Hello,
Just signed up today. I am a newbie at poi too only started learning last weekend at the Electric Picnic festival in Stradbally Hall, Co. Laois, Ireland (my avatar is a pic of me doing poi at the festival). It was a great festival and I think I am in love with poi. I am a pretty fast learner and I have learned loads of stuff from the tuition part of the site. I think I am a natural seeing as how I learned the butterfly properly last night then woke up this morning and automatically did angel wings. Also did a variation of the hip reels and shoulder reels...which is odd considering I only knew hip reels last night. Its great I love it loads, so I decided to join here and say hi and chat to others who love poi.

Smile
Peace and happiness.
James

Hi james, welcome to the site. I'm a newbie too, but there are lots of experienced poisters here, so any advice needed, I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Good luck,

Serenity

Oh, well done on learning those moves so quickly Smile

You are all so welcoming its cool. I am sure I will eventually come up with some annoying questions but for the moment I am pottering my way through online tutorials. Its amazing watching your muscle memory develop in the past half hour I have moved from the forward 3- 5 beat weave to a reverse version....yesterday I couldnt cross my arms with the poi spinning backwards without hitting myself in the ass..Laughing. I even figured out the turn from forward weave to backward weave. Its coool!!

The next one I wanna learn is the windmill...only thing is I can see myself losing teeth learning that one. Considering the damage I nearly did to my baby makers learning the forward weave. Laughing

Yeah the name is a bit sac religious I know...my nick name is Jay...and I am Irish...loads of people say Jaysus here so I thought it would be a cool name. I am so glad it was available...I use it all the time.

Anyway thanks for the welcome.

Peace and happiness to you all.

Jay (James) (Jaysus)...etc
