Hi everyone! This is one of my first messages here and i'm sure you'll like to see my participation on sending videos, pictures and anything else to make poipoi.info richer than it is!
And, just for start;
Which are the chemical substances that liberate fire sparks when a poi is being turned? I've seen it in a video times ago, and now in the Index of poipoi.info in the animated and random flash videos that appears in the right of the main page.
Does any one should tell me?
I'm trying to be better in my shows here in Brazil, by the way, sorry for my english, it isn't good enough. :D
If does somebody should help-me i'll be pleased for ever, just answer this post! Or add-me on messenger (chucruti@gmail.com)
Thanks! And waiting answers :]
I'm here only to make this community grow up, believe it! |

Hi Chucruti, and welcome to poipoi.info!
Your English is very good, i speak two other languages so i know how hard it can be :P
Now, to answer your question, you dont actually need any chemicals to make the big sparks fly from the poi, it's done with wire wool (see picture here) inside home-made cages made from chicken wire ( see picture here) The can is used to feed extra wire wool into the end of the cage for longer burn times.
Wire wool spinning is more dangerous than fire, and unpredictable, because you're playing with moltern metal which burns very hot and can fly off anywhere.
For more detailed information and safety precautions, read this.
Hope that helps! 8) |
