|
|
Ok so ive been watching my friend do a three beat weave and at first we thought I had it but it looks like I am doing a one or two beat weave.
Im bringing both poi down to one side for one turn each then taking them back across, im crossing my arms and have it tidy but it doesnt look like his. His seems to last for one extra turn and I cant get the hang of it, is what I am doing a two or one beat weave because I am really good at it but somethings not right.
Mastered butterfly takeouts on the right hand, left hands letting me down. |

if its goin in a figure of 8 pattern its a 2bt and the 3bt is basically fitting in an extra beat on either side check the tutorials on here they explain it well |

You are probably doing half of what you need to for a 3bt weave.
When you do a 3 bt weave, both your hands lead the other one at one point. This is when you swing your poi to the other side. This means, your right hand leads to the left side, then your left hand leads back to the right.
To be able to lead with the other hand, you need to leave the right poi on your left side for 1 more spin (beat). This allows your left hand/poi to get infront.
Other than that, check out the tutorials as Felixwah says! They are great! |

Also when doing a 3bw (I can't do 2bw so can't explain those lol) The poi will spin once on the natural side, and twice across the body.
So for the right hand, the right poi will do 1 rotation on the right side of the body, will go across to the left, and do two rotations before coming back to the right and repeating. |

2 beat weave is just body crossing in split time
the 3 beat weave begins immediately after a 2 beat
here:
1. Spin in split time by your sides
2. Arm 1 comes across your body
3. Arm 2 does the same after half a beat (split time, remember)
4. Arm 1 comes back to its own side
5.Instead of 2 going back to its own side, it goes under arm 1 (Arm 1 is now on its own side)
6.Arm 1 crosses back over the body
7.Arm 2 follows it in split time (going back to its own side)
8.As arm 2 goes to cross the body again, Arm 1 goes under arm 2
etc etc etc.
Hope that helped. Do it with *just your arms* before attempting with poi.
haha, the word 'arm' has lost its meaning. |

despite the low ceilings, YAY 3bw fw down.
Well I say that im still doing a two beat on the left hand side but getting it done on the right side is an acomplishment itself.
Thanks psychotic.
You are now my official Mr Miyage.
(Wax On - Wax Off)
I think I have been doing the 2bw for too long now and am having to train myself back out of doing it because it really fudges up the 3bw when you want to do it. |

lol, can I be Ms instead? :P
yeah i know what you mean about the whole training yourself off something issue.
For about a month I was doing btb 3bw horrifically wrong, technique-wise, so i just didnt attempt it for 2 weeks, forgot the bad technique and then picked it up again with the correct one.
it's horrible, not trying a move you really want, but sometimes if you're stuck in a rut it helps to take a break from it lol.
Any more moves we can help with? |

I think I am ok for the time being, I wanted to get the 3bw sorted because it opens alot of doors for other moves.
I have been doing alot with butterflies recently, split time butterflies, takeouts and angel wings.
Been practicing reels a bit but still not having much luch with them, reel turns look really impressive but are hard in practice, I keep hitting my back or elbow or whoevers in the way.
M8's came back from a rave and totaly nailed TTN while they was there, im so envious.
Hopefully gonna be going down the park shortly to practice with my friends, gonna practice 3bw and hopefully pick up TTN while im there.
Thanks again Ms Miyage. |
