How do you take care of Firepoi?
I've had mine for about a year now and they are a bit ragged.
Is there something I am suppose to be applying...
Or something I am suppose to be cleaning them with????
I dont want them to tear!

HELP ME.

I don't think there is much you can do with them. Their gonna burn away eventually. Sounds like you've been taking good care of yours though Smile

How often do you spin with them by the way?

every time you finish with them, make sure you give em a little soak in fuel before you put them away, keeps em moist.
Also try and put them out just before they go out.
And try not to use chemicals to change colours etc.
And use paraffin and not other fuels.

Agreed with what Funk master J said! (funk master J! gonna write that shaz down!!)
anyways! good care of poi, as Psychotic said, don't let them burn themselves out, just put them out then quickly dunk them in a resovoir of parafin that will cover the ENTIRE poi, cut away those huge frays you get after a while, but leave a couple on there for easy poi lighting.
Make sure you don't leave them outside to the wrath of the elements, water is heavier than parafin so if you try to dunk it, it just simply looks bad when you try to spin a dud flame.
Just you know keep 'em clean and check the links between the head and the chain, and then also the handles as well, gotta be safe now!
Finally try not to get any debris on them like sand or dirt or anything, if left it burns into the wick and it's not good! Smile

Hope this has helped some!!
happy spinning!

Also something that has failed to be mentioned...

Dont spin them too fast. If you do eventually the kevlar will slip down the core.

Though thisis easy enough to fix, you jsut unscrew the kevlar, the re-roll it, then re screw it.

Or just leave it. It depends on how picky you are

They wont go down the core if you spin any of poipoi's poi cos they're nailed in at the sides.
Also with monkeyfists they dont have a core :P
YAY FOR FIRE.
need some more paraffin.

Hahaha! Thanks J (^_^) I was bored in the office, and had to put a lot of thought into it!! I’m glad you like it!!

Yeah I second what she said about PoiPoi's poi not slipping, only No Core Standards tend to slip, everything else seems to stick fine, Monkey fists, cathedrals, accordions etc.

Mine have cores and still slip. Its because as the kevlar degrades and weakens, the screws/nails allow the kevlar to move ever so slightly under the g force of the spin.

Its similar to putting a pencil in blue tack and rolling it around in a circular motion. The hole eventually gets bigger and they slip down.

Believe me I know because mine did it, and so have Dangermmoores ever so slightly, cos i looked last full moon fest to see if it was just mine doing it.
