Bought my fire chains like 2 weeks ago, took them out for their first burn and they broke same night on my second spin, the top eyebolt bent out of place, suddenly (lol) one poi shot off at my mates and I had a single fire poi with 4 finger loops. I had to bend it back with my teeth while they were still on fire (actually I got someone else to do that for me). Just think if someone can bend them back with their teeth, how malliable are they. I got some welded keyring thingys on em now.

Could have been really dangerous though :o( and I dont want new ones because I think I have worn em in by practicing in my own special way but suggest a re-think about their production, possibly 2 of those welded keyring links on each end or super heavy fishing weights. Those eye's bend under heat and with strain, to be honest the whole of the pois structure should be full links and not closed eyes. You get me?

Anyway I love my fire poi *kiss* and wouldnt trade them for the world but would like to make someone aware of this flaw. I wouldnt want it to happen to another first time spinner and really put them off because it is such a beautiful art.

Yeah I got them from here, but I was more excited about they keyring that I danced around with.

I dont want a fuss but they need to be looked at design wise because they bend too easily.

I dont wanna change em or send them back, every set of poi Ive had has had to be replaced through theft or loss, I wanna actually be able to keep a pair from the start. I love em and I love the way they broke on me like that, made me more aware to check them...

Tony'll read this thread and she'll sort stuff out. What exactly were you doing when they broke? I've had my flaming chains for ages and they've never given me any grief, chain or core or otherwise. She'll fix it. She's a good girly.

I was doing a butterfy when it went. My first time spinning with the poi but on its second burn (ie I had redipped in paraffin after first burn). Theres an eyebolt that connects the chain to a rectangular swivel then the fingerloops. Its the actual eyebolt that gave out and bent outwards so the chain just slid off.

Ive since put welded keyring links on to connect my fingerloops to the chains and they work great.

I have had quite a few fire sessions with friends poi and every one has a different structure, some are home made (acordian stylie) and others are barrelled like mine from here. They all use those grip catches (like on climbing equipment) and keyring links. I see those poi being burnt about 15 times in a row, no bends no breaks at all.
