One whole year! nice going J!
Yeah it is interesting what poi can do for you. I got mistaken for a 26 year old and was declared missing for three whole hours while in spain last year. I don't know how they came to this conclusion after watching me spin for 5 minutes
Mean while, I was actually looking after someone who was feeling under the weather. |

I'm not long past my first day on which i only managed the butterfly but i can now manage something like the extended reels only i haven't tryed the last bit of the move where you reel behind the shoulders. also the basic weave but i haven't managed the 3 beat yet or a regular hip or shoulder reel. soon though. |

My first poi were Mice, but I had played with fire poi a bit before that. My firend wouldn't let me have them lit because fuel is expensive. I didn't get homemade poi until ages after I got poipoi ones. And then only because I couldn't think of anything else to do with the juggling balls someone gave me for christmas!
First move I learned was Butterfly and Angel wings. Followed a year later by 2bw forwards, and a year after that, I learned 2bw backwards THEN I learned what the moves were called! Progress has ben kinda slow thus far! |

Just at the end of my first day heh. Picked up my girlfriends poi this morning and had a little play in the garden, managed to get the hang of the 3 beat weave after about an hour and really enjoyed it.
When I got in I made some makeshift poi out of some old rugby socks and hocky balls, which hurt like hell, so iv ordered some new ones already.
I'v managed to do the butterly and pull off the 5 beat weave once since this morning but I'm going to stop until my new poi come, my ankles have taken enough of a beating :D |

Hehe
The first time I spun poi was in my GCSE English Class at College last year.
A mate had brought them in because we had to do presentations on our hobbies. He brought his poi in and the first thing I successfully managed to do was the flutterby
I've been hooked ever since and I do tend to take my sock poi with me wherever I go now.

Ah i remember my first day with poi in my hands too. Learned butterfly, split time spinning then the 3 beat weave. The feeling of success after hours of spinning was huge, those first few tricks always stay in my mind.

| My first day was just trying to get the butterfly perfect and spin the socks in order. what wonder a fire show does, she was only belly dancing and the poi were barely moving but then I watched youtube and saw what poi really were. I instant made sock poi but didnt find anything to have inside. Needless to say the golfballs I found was NOT a smart idea. |

unpacked my poi i got for my birthday.. give them a quick go in side.. suddenly followed by both of them making a very sharp and hard hitting impact with my testicles. .
now I've learnt not to do that.. but my bro hasn't, as he demonstraited seconds after saying the quote "i could do that.."
