wicked... okay... i think i may get the hang of this.
I have just sewn up my poi... they had a fight with a barbed wire fence. Sewn poi / my top together, but it's all good now
I don't think I'm that much more dedicated than anyone else here really, I just do it as much as I can because it's what I most want to do i guess.
Takeouts are still only going out, but I'm getting there. |

hmmm
Rule 1 for buzzsaw practice
DON'T have your poi so long that the both hit your nose, one on top,. other on bottom, and then get your matching juggling balls bloodsoaked
they'll clean...
ill stick with what i know - safer
but an evening of muchly poi practise tonight methinks |

Ouch
If your spinning fast enough to soak your poi in blood, your spinning waaaaay to fast, while your still learning try to take it slower, i garentee your body will thank you for it |

I wasn;'t going that fast - I have broken said nose many times so it is fragile...
I am trying to slow down, it just takes a lot of work.
Still, I can take a poi out of butterfly, do quite a few spins, before bringing it back in now :D |

I don't know if this will help but try poi to some music with a slow beat like some soul or reggae. This really helped me when I needed to slow down as you can use the beat to keep time with your movements.....fast music makes you spin faster.
Louise
EDIT: Miranda, sounds like your doing excellent with the takeouts, I used to let them spin until I was ready to bring them back in, after a few days you end up spinning less in between and just bringing them back in. Watch this one everybody, shell be doing 360 butterfly soon :o) |

That's definitely good advice. Quite a few Less Than Jake songs do the job nicely, I find. |

Hmm
I should really take better care of my body |

When you take out, a poi is on each side of your body, one at the front and one at the back, if you turn your body to the side then you have a poi on each side.
With a takeout your bringing the poi back to the front after you have taken it out, with a 360 your taking the front poi to the back (along with the poi you already took out), but then your in reverse butterfly (backwards).
Don't try it all at once though.....this will come once those takeouts are perfect on both sides.
If I could find a video to show you I would post, I might have to make you one tomorrow :o)
Would a video help, I can throw in loads of butterfly combos for you to have a look at?

I feel like I have confused you! Sorry..
...one step at a time, get those takeouts nailed...
...it takes time to transition to different moves, once you get used to one move and feel completely comfortable with it you can try different things like doing takeouts over the shoulder. |

I think you're on the right lines with the takeouts. It's just a matter of moving your hand so the poi makes a circle behind you, instead of what you're doing now.
Careful though, yeah? |

OKay
I think i need to take it back a step and learn to make a circle with a poi behind my back without hitting myself, before I factor in a butterfly
Thanks people
And Xan, when am I not careful? |
