Helloooo, I came across poi when I was on a hen weekend, apparently in a slightly drunken state it was the general opinion that I had a knack for it even though I've never done it before.
Sooo as I really enjoyed it I thought I would stick my toe into the world of poi and try to learn it.
What would be the best poi to get to learn with as I've gathered that the homemade tennis ball version hurts.
Thanks for any advice and I'm looking forward to my new adventure (then I want to learn the djembe drum)

This may sound harsh but "no pain, no gain".
I use tennis balls now but when i started I made slits in the balls which de-pressurized them so they didn't hurt as much (and you can tuck your handles inside the slit).
They seem to keep their weight as well so theres very little difference apart from the lack of pain.
Welcome to the forums anyways and if you need any
the tutorials and forums are here to guide you!

Tennis balls are the eeeevil!!
Socks are the way forwards! The best thing about them is that (In my opinion only) They are easier to learn tricks with. You can't do throws if you have you have your fingers stuck through finger hoops!
You can slow tricks right down with them because they are long and have a fair deal of elasticity.
Finally they are a bit softer when it comes to body and or facial strikes!
You can get them with Juggling Thuds in which are nice and soft and are nicely weighted. They don't hurt when you belt yourself with them! Just so happens they sell them on this site! Lots of perrty colours to choose from! |
