Poi and spinning in general is a great remedy for me when I'm down. Specially with fire. Something about controlling it just gives me a sense of bliss. Knowing that as much of a dangerous creature it is. It's calm if you treat it right (^_^)

Lol I like to have spinning gear with me at all times. I carry two sets of poi and my juggling balls!

Hey Kat -- if you have some cash to spare, I'd recommend getting one of these to practice with. Because they rule. Smile

Mine balances better than any 100mm I've ever used! It's actually a little bigger than I normally like, personally...

I find it generally helps me relax very easily, last few nights have been pretty hard in terms of long lecture days. Tts kept me going knowing when i get home and it gets dark i can go down the beach with my glow poi, some good music in my ear and just spin to my heats contempt.

I hear ya Mike, I just finished my degree. My last two classes were writing classes. It took up all of my time. I basically just started spinning poi a month ago.
I built my 2 poi sets out of spare materials I had laying about. My first set was very simple just two tennis balls and some braided nylon cord. The second set I just made using the same nylon cord, a swiveled quick release hooks and a couple of sturdy knots, swivels on the other end and a double loop handle I made by sewing strips of cotton/polyester blend fabric. They work great too! Very Happy
I got a lot of satisfaction from building my own, and the building process itself was kind of recreational.
