Hello all
I have been spinning for quite some time with escrima sticks. I accidentally ran into poi looking for a way to construct my own fire sticks. Needless to say I was hooked the moment I saw them in action. I constructed my own rudimentary set of poi out of some thin Nylon rope and tennis balls weighted with dry beans just to see if I liked doing it, and I do!
Getting used to the poi has been a touch of a challenge but I was able to translate weaves from sticks to poi quite easily. In learning new tricks I have run into a combination of frustration and satisfaction as poi though similar are not the same as spinning rigid sticks. I even considered making my screen name SelfAbuseByPoi. Very Happy My location doesn't have any poi spinners that I am aware of so you will probably see me in the forums quite a bit.
