It expands into a 4th dimension. An example being the Tesseract Cube?
A cube that moves through the 4th dimension (Hypercube anyone? Awesome film!)
Maybe that's what the universe expands and shrinks into. |

speaking of fourth dimensions - dont you think pacman is awesome? They managed a fourth dimension in a 2 dimensional game, completely missing the third dimension!

Yeah, traditionaly but not all of them follow the rules, I think they just have to begin and end in certain ways like short sentences.
An example of classic hokku by Bashō:
furu ike ya kawazu tobikomu mizu no oto
old pond
a frog jumps into
the sound of water
Another Bashō classic:
hatsu shigure saru mo komino wo hoshige nari
the first cold shower
even the monkey seems to want
a little coat of straw
