Ever heard of something called biltong?
It's south african style beef jerky. Kinda chewier than most kinds. It's kinda nice.

Chinese beef jerky is cool too. It's all soft and sweet cured with spices and things. You can also buy chinese pork jerky. Smile


Oh, and as unusual things go, I just remembered. Couple of months ago I cooked deep fried octopus with mango salsa. That was just mmmmmm... Very Happy

What would you say octopus tastes like more calimari or eel?

I never had octopus but I LOVE seafood...

Squid tastes pretty good! But it left a funny feeling in my stomach...I think it was because i was hesitant about eating it tho...

not really it has a nice disticnt taste i want some now :( almost rubberry texture tho which i think puts alot of peoples off

My dear J, it's only as bland as you cook it to be. Wink Throw some spice into the mix, some sliced red chilli, a dash of paprika... Most foods taste bland without a little seasoning!

There's a trick to that. You need to simmer it on a low heat for about an hour. Makes it a lot more tender. Beating the hell out of it first with a wooden spoon helps too. You'll know when it's done from the nice aroma and the rosy red colour.
