I was just reading up on them

Looking directly into the lens is a lot brighter! Shocked

...although not as bad as a laser. Probably more like staring at the sun Wink

10-20x brighter than a super bright LED. If you were to look straight into the lens with all three colours at maximum brightness, that's ~3W of power firing into your eyeballs. Definitely not one to try!

And you can also plug them into USB to programme sequences into it?!

Cant have long to wait now anyway..

you can write your own sequences or use ones that have been written by other people. *hyperlight himself wrote a rainbow fade sequence over the weekend and uploaded it over the weekend in a second or two...

same size as hair gel tubs, little bigger than a tennis ball Smile

you will be able to take any sequences people use through the hyperlight website

Yeah hyperlights destroy flow poi in every way shape and form at the end of the day!

I would argue that bang for buck, they are very similar. For the price, flow lights are fantstic.. just like hyperlights.

In these two (rare) cases, I reckon you really get what you pay for Smile

hehe Smile

The balls are just under 70mm in diameter.

They're programmable in so much as you plug them into your PC/Mac and download new patterns. There's a little piece of software you run to make the patterns by dragging and dropping colours in the order you want them to appear... and if you're not a fan of doing it yourself, the website will host a massive library (which anyone can contribute to) containing all the patterns that you and I come up with Smile

It won't be long now - I'm just discussing options for plastics and finishes. Once that's done I'll get a prototype built to make sure everything fits. If there's no issues, I'll be pretty much ready to start production! Shocked

Under 70 eh?! That's a pretty good size!! :D

I saw the photo's of some of the hyperlights that were taken to Tarn. They look really nice! So will you be getting the software with the hyperlights as part of like a package thing or will it be readily available on the site?

In any case I'm well looking forward to them:P

...and the photo's really don't do them justice! You really have to see them to appreciate the impact they have Smile

Probably both. It will all be upgradable (even the stuff that runs on the poi itself) so if I come up with improvements, the software should pop up and say "Hey! There's some new/cool stuff available".. a quick download and voila, you've got even better toys for free Shocked Very Happy
