Just for Dae.
We were talking about this on the way back from brighton on the train in between Three Bridges and home
I personaly think it wood work (sorry ) because the flame would be burning the paraffin and not the wood, im basing this off the same priciple that if you spray arosol up your arm, cardboard box etc and then light it it only burns the arosol and not your arm, box etc. |

lol it wouldn't.
We worked on the volatilities of fuels in my chemistry class. Paraffin needs a wick to light (if you chuck it all over the floor it does not light easily at all) and wood counts, but there was noooo wat we were gonna salvage that wood afterward.
its a dangerous flame on wood lol. |

you would have wick tape round the ends just like a normal fire staff, just on a wood staff.
Am i right in thinking these wood in the end of fire staffs to stop the metal heating up ? |

| No it's there so you can screw the wick in place. whats to stop paraffin soaking into the wood and setting fire. you'd only get one good burn out of it! Tho you could have it as a purely decorative piece which would be awesome! God I'd love to carve my own sticks! |

Whats to stop the paraffin leaking onto the wood after soaking?
Besides the heated metal will scorch and deteriorate the wood underneath it lol! |

| Lol:P I don't really know. I'd use one but it'd be glow. You could make some excellent patterns with a nice wood chisel! |

It'd be glow simply because you could make a really nice ornamental staff with it. Plus wood is so easy to work with, whereas metal it takes longer to make something really nice with it!
But yeah a few ornamental staffs on your wall would look awesome! |

Why wood you ask, well because i have piles and piles of wood at my dads where as i don't have any mnetal pole lying around, and it would be more rewarding

that's because meths is a very cool flame in terms of temperature rather than paraffin.
You can pretty much, tho I advise against it, dunk your arm in meths and set it on fire! So it wouldn't burn the wood. Besides you should never be burning meths on a staff as it does actually give off some fairly toxic vapours. Not a smart move if you value you vision and or your life lol! |
