Gotta say guys... I don't quite get what you mean by "Augmented". Confused

Oh, and a side note...

The Ugly Trick - "The Ugly Trick" Refers to tricks that just make you look ridiculous when you do them. A prime example of this "Ugly Trick" would be anything above a 5 Beat Weave. So 7bt's 9bt's and any other ungodly number! It involves much wrapping of the arms, elbows and wrists and it's no good trying to think you look cool and snazzy when you do it because in truth you look like a bloody idiot! It's more of a trick you cross off the "List of tricks to learn" List. You won't ever be able to incorporate this in a show effectively!

It's perhaps worth mentioning that even an "ugly" trick can look good. You just need to make sure you do 2 things:
  • Be ridiculously good at them. Practice them lots and make sure your planes and timing are spot on. This stops them looking so ugly.
  • Use them sparingly. Kinda like punctuation in a sentence. It. Doesn't. Look. Good. To. Over. Use. It. Wink

I think throwing in an extra couple of beats can add a little dramatic effect to a display (like, in time with a dramatic part of your music). Mind you, I can't really say for sure -- my 7 beat is shocking. Razz

this is true...ugly tricks if your bloody good at them can be made to look good...will amend that at some point today. Got damned errands to run...

"Augmented" I saw this video of a dude doing a 5bt beat weave. Then as the last beat I think, came up wards he grabbed it with his other hand, completed the trick one handed but then caught the poi he let go off with his free hand and started again...it's hard to describe for my feeble intellect! Lol!

Here's a vid: Augmented Weave

Oh, that's funky!

I've been playing with 1-hand weave tricks for ages, but not tried this one. Might have to give it a go... Smile

Man my brain is bloody aching!! Myself, Felixwah, Splinter and person who's name I forgot were up till about one in the morning discussing Hybrids for the purposes of this guide!

But we covered a lot of ground and cracked the theory behind it all!! So I have spent a couple of hours at work writing up the theory behind Hybrids but then in a wild tangent. Explained the advanced Theory of Poi trick movements!! It will all be posted in due course!

It's not finished yet but will edit this post when it's virtually there!

Ciao ciao (^_^)
