I had to leave for a few days on a business trip. I packed up my poi, figuring I would be able to get a lot of practice in at night.

Well, the night before I left I started to practice. I used a couple videos to help me get the feel of the move down, and I did pretty good.

The next day, after checking into the hotel, I pulled out my poi and started to practice. I was having a really hard time doing the 5 beat weave - much harder time than the night before.

Over the next few nights, I worked on and got a little better, but nothing close to the night I first tried it. The wireless connection at the hotel was extremely slow, and loading up videos was out of the question so I didn't have any videos to fall back on.

Well, after coming back home, I loaded up a video by Nick Woosley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9PvtqbU8zQ) on youTube demonstrating the 5 beat weave. At some point in the video, he shows you how to do a 7 beat weave, explaining that it's just a matter of winding your hands even further...

And it hit me! I was doing the 7 beat weave. So I got up and tried not winding my hands too far, and BOOM, instant 5 beat weave!

Has anyone else had a similar experience, where they've [essentially] learned a move by accident?

That's what I have in store next, I need to learn the reverse to all the moves I know. I don't know any reverse moves now that I think of it.
