I have started Poi classes. I have an amazing teacher who really does have the patience of a saint with me. Oh my god - he needs it!

Having accomplished the forwards 3 beat weave - I'll work on making it pretty over the forth coming week, he then tried to teach me the backwards weave. One word - OUUUCCHHHH!!!!! I actually felt sick and dizzy after spending 2 hours smacking myself in the head from what seemed like all angles. I am now sporting colours a Peacock would be proud of.

An hour before work of practising - no joy. An hour, just now on the field at lunchbreak and many head smacks later...and to be honest - I really don't feel well - am a bit shaky now and sooo dizzy and I'm sucking aniseed and ginger sweets to get rid of nausea. And oh my! I have never sworn so much in my life! lol!

Ok, so I can spin backwards now at the sides, and cross to the left, and the left to the right in a basic cross - and after that, its basically a public flogging display, and arms flapping about like the wings of a dying chicken, and I'm just getting worse not better. Any suggestions ?

The other weird thing is that after Poi class and longer practises, my mind is on overdrive. Can't stop thinking. I do have Post Traumatic Stress from a car crash, which has weakened my left side and has made multi-tasking difficult to say the least, but last night the Post Traumatic Flashbacks were so strong and I just couldn't wind down, even went for a long walk at 2am in the morning to try to settle. Is this a common thing - the thinking - after a Poi session? or is it just me and my oddities at work again.

Thanks in advance for any bit of help, anyone can offer.

I did have a bad experience with backwards 3 beat weave myself and how I managed to do it perfectly without hitting myself do I not know. so I just say this to explain what I did... paintball helmet and little light so I cant see and have to trust my muscles to do it right Razz

sorry for not giving any better advice but there are many others here smarter than me. Smile
