In my opinion, the buzzsaw is a fantastic move and my gawd does it look sexy with fire.

But I always found it rather difficult to get into, however after 45mins of poi-ing to Basement Jaxx (serving suggestion), I have a combo to get into it. It's basic, but it doesn't look half bad, so I thought I'd share it.

This is obviously for non mouse poi due to hitting-in-the-face-itality.

OK. If you want to spin your buzzsaw forwards, you have to shorten your poi by spinning them backwards round your palms if you ever want to escape it, so somehow (I just did a split reel turn) get into reverse spinning. (You could just start spinning reverse but it depends where you've come from in your 'dance' heh).

Then on a selected beat, wrap the poi string around your palms for 2 wraps, that should be short enough, shorter looks stupid and longer results in no chin.

One you've wrapped it, re-catch the string in your fingers and keep spinning the newly shortened strings and poi in reverse, then get them going forwards again somehow (just a normal shoulder-reel turn for me) and as soon as you hit your first forward beat, spin your buzzsaw. Yay!

Getting out of it is a breeze, as since you wrapped them backwards round your palms, undoing them means unwrapping them forwards, so when you've extinguished the novelty of the trick, simply pull your arms apart a bit and open your palms, spin for 2 revolutions and they're undone.

Voila!
Obviously a backwards buzzsaw is all of the above, but reversed.
And it's probably harder with fire.

Maybe I'm alone in thinking the buzzsaw is hard to get into, but if anyone else has found a good way to get into it, do tell!

yeh just bring it in off your forwards weave. and if you need to shorten it you can do it whilst your doin your buzzsaw i.e your first 2 turns of the buzzsaw. otherwise if on fire goatie gets frazzled!! eek Shocked

Wo0o0o0o I wrote that a long time ago!
I also find now that it's awesome to do a kind of crank movement (isolated buzzsaw but with one poi on the outside of your arm, facing your side) and then isolated weave into an isolated buzzsaw, then transition to normal buzzsaw.
