Ok so after a long summer and an amazing reading festival i think that i have come to a conclusion that some people will be slighly upset to hear about. After trying almost all of the night time (not fire) poi from this website i have found two major flaws.
Number 1) they dont seem in any way to be bright enough. for a start the Globalz have only one teeny tiny LED in them so to have that diffused through the bean bag really diminishes any sort of impressive brightness. The nightburst on the other hand are indeed brighter and probably much more than the display ones i had tried(they had clearly been on for several hours) But there was a second problem which i will go onto explain. The blazing lightstick too, were much better in brightness but suffered the same problem as the nightbursts, that being:
Number 2) That both the nightburst and the rubberthings were too short and (ofcource this is my opinion due to my preferance in spinning style) and could not be extended or shortend further. No such problem exists with the globalz (but they are too dull). The blazing lightsticks where shorter still and very much restrict the variaty of "tricks" that could be performed.
so, returning to my campsite quite dissapointed i went into my rucksack for the one last thing i could rely on : two scavanaged (i had been to v festival the previous weekend) but still packaged thick glow sticks.Having cracked these into life and attached them to the end of my PoiPoi cable assemblys (from the globalz, which by the way are a decent length) i was ready to spin. and thats what i did for the next 2-3 hours, intremitently trying to teach my drunken friends how to do it.
from that i concluded that from now on i will almost definatly use sock poi for any practice and that i will buy my glowsticks from that magical online store known as Ebay and save them for special occasions. Glowsticks about 10 times brighter (estimate) and leave much more impressive trails of light at much slower speeds. for me their weight is more or less right but obvioulsy can be too light for some in which case they can be adjusted with the stuffing of blue tack in one end.
well thats that... i wonder if anyone will actually reply. Post your opinions as i will be interested to hear them. |

| Have you tried replacing your batteries or improving your spinning style to become more versatile? There are plenty of accessories available to modify your poi for special needs, check out the store! |

Lambda,
It's very interesting to hear your thoughts on the products you have purchased. More importantly to hear that you are unhappy with them. Obviously when making poi it is almost impossible to get the length of the string/chain correct for everybody! any adjustable strings i have come across so far are great when you buy them but become fantastically unrelyable over time! Longer chain makes a lot of moves (particulaly weaves behind your back) more difficult to learn than they need to be.
The Rubberthings chain can obviously be made shorter by clipping the handles in any link you want, but making them longer means you can't do tricks on the inside of your arms, such as the buzzsaw. The Nightburst chain obviously can not be altered but the balls and the clip from both the Nightburst and Rubberthings can be clipped straight onto the Globalz strings yeah?? as can the blazin lightsticks if you use them individually instead....
As for the brightness of the globalz, red are pretty bright normally maybe you do need a battery change....
I have been spinning for just over two years and would call myself an advanced spinner, I'm not sure that i have ever bought a set of poi that don't need a bit of custom tweeking.... hence my bag full of spare components.... Maybe you need to build yourself a bag of spare components....

I have a set of Rubber Things, which I was really excited to own. Unfortunately the LED in one of them was different to the other. I ignored it for a while but in the end it just bugged me too much and it was too late to take it back for a replacement :( . One of the LEDs didn't have any red in it and it was much more dim than the other. So I bought lots of new batteries, changed them all, cleaned the contacts etc but it didn't make any difference. So I decided to replace the dodgey LED, which cost a whopping £5 for one!! - a lot of money for one little light - maybe my local shop is more expenxive than others? Much to my disappointment, the new light had a different sequence of colours again. where it didn't have any red, it now flashed red twice instead of each colour once and was still dimmer than the other  .
I don't live near my 'local' supplier so getting there is time consuming, awkward and I am reluctant to have to buy another LED at that price. I am quite close to just giving up.
I agree that the length of these could be a bit longer, but that is no problem as Grumbles quite rightly points out that all poi need a little personalising and it is a good idea to have a 'bits'n' bobs' bag. |

But all in all its a really nice product, too bad to hear u got a evil pair of them there though... :( |
