Hi There Everyone!!
I've been checking out the forum for a couple of weeks and I finally decided to join. I'm brand new to poi, I've been spinning for 4 weeks now. I absolutely love it. I know a couple of people that spin but they are really new at it too. Thanks for being such a wealth of information.
A bit about me and why I started spinning. A little over 7 years ago, I was in an auto accident that caused permanent nerve to my neck, shoulders and upper back. I lost most of my range of motion in my upper body. Little by little, I have been trying to reclaim my flexibility and basically reclaim my body. (Prior to the accident, I was very active and athletic.) Poi is allowing me to regain the mobility and flexibility that I had lost so many years ago. I think that is why I love it so much.. I never thought I would be able to do any of this and now I'm even surprising myself at how much poi is helping me.
As for fire poi, I'll get there eventually. I'm hoping maybe by Spring 2007. I don't want to rush myself. I want to be comfortable with the moves and know them well before I add the element of fire to the mix.
Thank you to everyone that has posted so many wonderful explanations and tips. They are a great help.

I thought I would say hello to you since you are in New York and also you had Namaste in your post
I just started Poi a couple days ago you could say. I tried to make my own a while back but since I didn't have a real good idea of how to they didn't turn out. So I finally got a set and now I can see what I did wrong 
Anyway just thought I'd say HI since we are in the same area of the world

| welcome to the forums my friend! im glad to hear that you love the poi:P yeah the forums have been a gr8 help to me to! i didnt even know what a linked split shoulder/hip reel was! tch ah well:P enjoy! |
