Hey folks,
Fancy winning yourself a 15% discount voucher for the PoiPoiŽ online shop?!? Im challenging you to dazzle me with your descriptive skills!
As most of you will have noticed we have recently revamped out online tuition for your viewing pleasure, and we obviously want some wicked discriptive text to put with them...thats where you come in. Just pick a move and be part of producing the highest quality poi tuition on the web!
All descriptions need to be fairly brief and anything that makes us laugh is a bonus! obviously anything you submit may be used on the site and therefore needs to be your own work. No cheating....I'll know!!!!!!
The decision of the Grumbles is final
Good Luck

Hyperloop.
Okay so you're going to learn to hyperloop. The first thing is to make sure that you can effectively perform lockouts (aka eclipses) during your weave, and also you should be able to move from a weave to a buzzsaw efficiently
So do a 3 beat weave and instead of parting the poi completley... part them half-way and let them catch each other around half way down there length.
When they catch you want to draw them across your body between your arms, then to part the poi from the tangle you need to push your right hand just further across your body than your left.
I know you said it had to be short... but its a complex move haha!
Short Description!
Its an airwrap sideways :D |

Angel Wings are a variation on the butterfly and look very impressive, but for beginners can be a little hard to master at first.
1. Start by spinning the basic butterfly in the front plane.
2. As the poi come to their very bottom raise your hands over your head and behind (this is one of the hardest points of the trick, you can have VERY bad headaches at this point)
3. By Pointing your hands downwards, complete one butterfly movement behind your head (you can do more if it is more comfortable but one is normally enough at first)
4. As the poi begin to move upwards bring them back over your head to go back to the normal poi. This completes one angel wing, repeat for a 2:1 ratio (two in front and one behind) then move to a 1:1 ratio.
Congratualtions you just mastered the Angel Wings. |

Right, the windmill. A.K.A. the mexican wave.
The easiest way to learn this is to first know the chase the sun/shoulder reel. I'm going to be kind and tell you how to do this as well to save u the effort of going to annother page (with a cheesy air-hostess grin)
Start with both poi on one side of your body, I personally find it easiest starting on the left. swing them both up in a big circle keeping your hands just under shoulder width apart. When u feel confident enough doing this, at the top of the swing flick the poi over your shoulder and complete a full rotation behind your head. At the top of the swing, again, bring thepoi backin front of you. Well done!!!
The windmill/mexican wave is the same except your hands remain over your head and one poi is spinning slightly in front of the other (but not far enough infront to be classed as split time, more like off-beat).
And there you go
*rubs cheeks* (How do air-hotesses grin for that long?) |
