I'm a mime artist, toured with a firespinner and found myself in a shop buying poi, how do you know when it's safe to start lighting based on skill with unlit poi.... I LOVE THIS! Come on!

what i did was just use the firepoi (unlit) until i knew i was confortable with just basic moves like weaves, reels, butterflys and windmills, then when i knew i had those down to the T then i lit up and everything went fine, but of course have saftey stuff with you like bucket of water with a wet towel just to be on the safe side.

there u are! Cheers- I got dvd peles element to learn moves then I freaked myself watching warning/accident vids on homeofopoi... going to try and join a crew locally who should know what they are doing

always best if you are in a group yeah, if theres a uni near you, see if they have a juggeling asociety or sumthing, mine does and im joining them soon, i used to psin with my team but their at uni right now, so just stick to the basics until you know for sure that your ready to move onto another trick
