when can I light my poi? I have some which I'm spinning with wicks attached OUCH so I should probably get some practise ball things, right? Anyone know where to get duvetyne it's a fire retardant theatre fabric you can use to put out poi

I havent heard of this fabric but i guess you could buy a cheap fire blanket from most general goods stores! i guess its the same stuff? I use a damp towel myself! But im a skinflint and wont pay for anything Laughing As for lighting up!!!!! Id give it some serious thought as to how confident you are! You really can get badly injured if you cock it up without taking adequate precausions! Shocked There is a good fire safety vidio on home of poi if im allowed to mention them on here!? If its really got you and you NEED to light up! i would suggest have someone with you when you do it! and keep a big wet towel handy for them to run in and save your skin if it goes wrong. Other than that just keep to simple stuff until you really get confident with fire! its not like spinning the wicks unlit! the noise is a big distraction and.. of course it is hot and fiery as it should be which can also be off putting! If you tangle just drop the buggers and smother them! DONT try to untangle them as heat tends to rise and it rises pretty quick when you have two balls of fire inches from your erm...upper leg regions! and most of all.. have fun! :D
