Hey,

I am 16 and started Poi around two weeks ago. My mate has been doing them for six months or so and is really really good. So one day we had a free at college so i picked them up and started playing with them. It amazed me how hard it actually is when people make it look soo easy.

So now i can do a variety of things, Butterfly, 3 beat etc. Cant seem to master the 5 beat, my arms just dont want to do what I want them do do but oh well :D

I love Poi, what a great passtime. I love the fact that one day you may not be able to do something and you put them down for the night in annoyance, and the next day you pick them up and WOW you do it :S Very confusing but cool non the less.

Another thing I love is that people in college take the rip when i do it, calling me a girl and saying they look gay. So my reply is ok You Do It!! THey take them any well ypou can imagine the results as im sure you can all remember the time where everything got tangelled. Then they go away swearing at me (",) Fills me with soo much happiness.

Sorry for the essay. I like to Talk a lot.

Been borrowing my mates Cobra Classic Poi for the past few weeks, just bought my own off here today. Hopefully should be here soon and only £12 odd, amazing value for so many hours of happiness.

Nice to have you on the team Adam. I'm Jayne and I'm from Brighton. I love the way some things just *click* too! Hope to hear more from you. Check out the tuition vids, or as I like to call it, the Bible Page.

You'll get 5 beat weave. You'll get it on one side first, then struggle with the other and curse at why you can do it on one side but not the other, and then you'll get it :P Thats how it works.

Pleased to be here. Are you the person in some of the tuition vids? If so then I soo hope I can be as good as you one day :d

And yeah my mate says I can do the 5 on one hand but when i back to the other side I dont corss back over or something. Very annoying. But hopefully soon it will come to me. I do practice a few hours everyday.

haha yeah moves just phase in bit by bit then they are sooo easy you cant beilieve you couldnt do it

Yeah very confusing how it does that.

And I have opnly watched the tutorials. Not actually put them on my ipod becuase I only have a mini. Cant afford a video which is a shame cos I would love to take my learning material with me all the time.

Ill have to wait till this site gives another one away for free :D

yeah like JasonB says, it'll all fall into place then you will wonder why you couldnt do it, usually i go through a few hours of pain and poi to the head and groin, and the occasional 'throw the poi down in a paddy then pick them straight back up again' phase of learning, but it makes me happy at the end of the day!

Yeah, I have many injuries allready. I found the butterfly the most groin injuring trick while i was learning it as they tangle at the top and come down with a wollop. BUt i have that sorted now :D
