ARGH!!!
I have been trying to learn this trick now for hours on end. Its really annoying me. I have watched the videos from here so many times, and had my mate help me :s but i cant seem to do it. No ,atter what my hand allways stops the extra spin. My mate says it moves as if i am going to do the extra parts but then i suddenly seem to pull out and revert back to a three beat :(
Any help and tips would be appreciated but I wont be able to practice as my poi are broken :(
But hopefully that will be sorted but im gonna pinch my mates tomorrow to do some more work on it.
Pffft
:(

I had that. What you wanna do is teach your hands to keep wrapping round each other. So get the extra wrap before you draw your arms across your body.
Unlike the 3 beat weave, the arm on the side that you are about to spin across to, yanks the other arm to it, rather than the arm on the side you are already on leading into it.
For an experiment, try and do the correct number of spins on one side and stop. The poi will fall, and THEN draw your hands across your body, so you know what it's supposed to look like when your wrists are in that impossible looking tangle with each other.
Hopefully after a few times, you'll get used to what your arms are supposed to look like/do when tangled, and be able to put it into the continuous weave.
Sorry if this doesn't help you at all! Good luck.

PS- You can easily practice! Get some long/footy socks and stick juggling/tennis balls in. You got yourself a set of sock poi. Some people even prefer to learn on these because tangled socks are FAR easier to undo than tangled cords! |

Yeah! Improv is great and is fantastic when you really lose yourself in it.
Getting stuck on a move is annoying, but I'm a determined person. I don't think you're at this stage yet, but when you go onto more advanced tricks you might: Sometimes you start a trick completely wrong, and you keep doing it wrong, and you're not teaching your body the right technique - when this happens. Stop learning that trick for a few days!
You'll forget the move, and forget the wrong-technique with it.
I think you're alright with the 5bw though, its just a painful move to learn heh.
But on getting stuck, just keep at it, or if you do take a break, be ready to tackle it fresh faced in a couple of days. Ever go hill walking? Seriously, FINALLY learning that blasted trick you've been working at for weeks is like climbing the hugest hill ever and looking at the spectacular view you're rewarded with.
