So, I've figured out a dozen or so "tricks," but the transitions from one to another are a little sad and lonely. It's usually during the transitions now where I get clocked in the face. If I want to put together a good routine, I think I need to make really clean moves from one plane to another, reels to butterflies and spin to anti-spin, etc. So I thought I'd open a topic on tips or cues that have helped others develop their transitions. Any do's & dont's?

umm if you can turn while in weave tis easy to go up into windwill just turn the right way or get hit again. and wrist stops from butterfly into weave are kool jsut gota keep the other wrist going.

Not on;ly into the windmill- if you turn nighty dgrees you can waist wrap, fountian, orbit (poi version not eh glowsticking one!), airwrap, spiral cuff, wrist stop into a whole number of different moves.

Its just a matter of finding out what flows for you, and what feels good

Spiral cuffs are spirals which are wraped around the biceps instead of being completed. This is also possible to do with airwraps (let it wrap and cuff it- looks good!!!)

When I learnt this move it was called an orbit- dunno what it is called now.

Do a windmill and as you bring your hands in front do a giant sweeping circle back into windmill and then do the giant circle again.

yeah orbits are pretty good trans move, because during an orbit you can start the big circle, get half way, turn into one of your wall planes and go into flowers.

Oh good, its still called that- I am not that old then. LOL

Another really good transition is reel rotations they are really nice. You do a hip or shoulder reel and turn 180 degrees at the same time!

my new fave transition (at the moment... it will no doubt change by Monday) is doing a split butterfly then doing a stall with my right hand over my left arm going into a 5bt weave... its like the wrist stop transition on the tuition page but stall instead of wrist stop...
the butterfly stalls look ace and confused me for a while but i use them all the time now!

I dont know if this is a good transitional move or not, I been practicing it loads though and it links well. Some comments on it would be good. Im the same, got a few really good moves and linking them together is the hardest bit, trying to find the space of time to swing them into the next move, madness.

Ok so your doing a 180 3bt weave, going forwards to the right of your body, split your poi back to both sides of your body and swing back into a hip reel out of your body into a backwards weave. Throw into it another 180 back round and you got a nice move that gives a good transition from bw to fw weave behind your body. I can throw a shoulder reel into the equasion and go back to the right of my body into a fw weave as well.

With a bit of playing with this move can go on forever and theres quite a few combinations that you can throw in, some slpit reels possibly into a butterfly....the limits are endless and it looks wicked.

For a begginer its difficult linking it together, I find my moves are flawless and its when trying to link into something else that I get hit....less practice on the moves for me and more trying to link them together for me.

If i get anymore good ideas ill post em!

Louise
