hey i was wondering if someone would be able to break down the 5 beat weave for me like it was done for the 3 beat weave on home of poi? http://www.homeofpoi.com/lessons_all/teach/3_14_22
that was by far the most useful piece of info to learn it. with the empty arm in front and going over under out for 15 mins on each arm then combining. bloody brilliant. just wondering if someone can do something similar for the 5 beat weave?
cheers and happy twirling |

My opinion of the 5 beat weave is if you're just beginning, don't do it.
The further I get with my spinning the more I realize that the free-er you hands are to move, the more spinning options you have available to you. I learned the 5 beat weave right off the hop, and now that I've advance alot since, I find myself unconciously in a 5 beat when I don't want to be.
however.
To do a 5 beat, it's just like graduationg from a chase to a 3 beat.
when you're in a 3 beat forward weave count the beats as you spin.
now if you're about the 5 beat the right side (maybe turn slightly to the right so you can see this easier), make sure the poi in your left hand goes around for another beat. As the poi in your right hand comes around place your right wrist on top of your left wrist (you can either point your fingers down or up.. down is easier to learn with, but up is easier to perfect IMO) and then bring the left one out across your body.
repeat on the left side to complete the 5 beat. |

its ok i found my key problem, i thought u did 3 on opposite side, not the other way. Like the right arm makes 3 circles on the left -WRONG! lol. so anyways all good now its learnt. cheers anyway tho.
The moves i have most problems with are the ones that involve behind the head work. like windmills and angel wings, albeit i can sort of do angel wings
thanks again and if ur trying to learn 5 beat from 4 beat weave, just concentrate on one arm at a time, and u really have to pivot the hips and swing your arms across your body so the poi can scoop down the other side. that was my biggest problem anyway.

| Just lock your hands in place, and as soon as they are there move your hands across your body. |
