Hey there 1st of all ty for the video tutorials, I enjoyed them a lot, moreover I've learned 3 or 4 thanks to them.
Now, the question is how do I start doing combinations? Or maybe when? I'm spinning for about week, so now I can do butterfly (also coming from split spinning), 5 beat weave forwards, 3 beat weave backwards (also both coming into each other - turning), high turn, reel turn, hip reel, tuck turn. Now working on angel wings and 5beat bw.
So shall I learn more moves to be able to perform some combinations? I can now do all those elements without stopping spinning, though nothing intresting happens
Maybe u send me to an article where such thing is explained, any help is welcome.
P.S. sorry for my English
P.P.S. using my chance, about the buzsaw stuff, can I do it with my chain length 60 cm? as the girl's poi are rather short (btw she's damn good) |

I'm not criticising here lol, but because you're new to it there's not going to be a lot you can play with (but there is probably more already than you think!)
It's good that you can go fwd 3bw to backwards, cos thats a combination in itself. Next try from Forwards, to backwards, to windmill, then to forwards again, and try to the do it with the minimum amount of turning - thats the fountain and looks snazzy snaz.
Try some simulataneous or delayed takeouts, with arms in different places, like from buttefly, right arm goes to an overhead takeout (like half an angel wings) and the left does a circle behind your back a split second afterward. Or maybe at the same time?
Also try hip reels to shoulder reels, and then that in split time (it's in the tuition videos)
A fantastic one, although not a combination, to learn is how to transition from weave into butterfly without jumping into it. The link is here and this is how it should be learned to start with. It looks so much better than just launching yourself into a butterfly.

You can do your buzzsaw as long as the chain will allow!

Ty for the answer.
So, I'm doing that transition from fwd to btfly, takeouts, some piece of fountain and some other minor stuff. Got now some more ideas.
1 more question - about the buzzsaw. can I comehow grab the chains to make my 60 cm chain available for the move? as I saw Yuta doing that, but can't get how he is doing that. any hints?

You mean making them shorter?
Spin in reverse and wrap them round your hands once, then spin forwards again. |

nice! I've tried the following things:
1) I didnt understood clearly how the fountain is done, so I've managed to do the 5bt forward on my left side but behind me, then coming into 5bt forward just in front of me then 1 bit of windmill (or lockout from 5bt), then the 3bt reverse on the right side. Going back is the same but in reverse order. I liked so much, damn, good. ty for that stuff
2) managed to wrap the chains round my hands while doing 3bt forwards releasing - 3bt reverse lol so nice
3) done the shoulder to hip reel, though not split yet
4) 5bt forwards => butterfly (thread the needle) with the help of wrist stop, coming back to beats, angel wings, takeouts, lockouts
so ur recommendations are damn helpful!
mb u suggest something else? |

You seem to be doing well on your own! Just put some music on an go experiment. My favourite combination is
butterfly > writst stop > airwrap and catch it on your wrists, forcing them to spin into reverse (some people call it hypercuffs) > then into an airwrap. |

I can give you parts of it heheh.
The thing i was talking about when i said 'hypercuffs' he does here http://youtube.com/watch?v=x568oZhSwgA at 00:56.
The airwrap move is this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=nN2pFDhvYAM&mode=related&search= at 02:45
You can only do this with socks though.
Your video is good! The only thing i would suggest is try the fountain with 3bw instead of 5bw, and when you come down from the over-your-head part, try and make it go on the outside of your left arm (if you come down to your left of course). |

I probably shouldn't post this here but I don't think it deserves its own thread...
Is it possible to do a 5 beat windmill? I thought the only way to windmill was 2 beats in front, 2 behind, then I accidently did 3 on both sides when doing a fountain thing, and after some experimenting realised I could do 4 beats as well. But is it possible to do 5? My hands seem to be twisted about as much as possible when I'm doing 4 beats (well, it feels a bit like doing 5 beats fw/bw only in different planes), so I was just curious if there's some trick to it.
Thanks! |

| *i* thought windmills could only be done with even beats. I know you can do 4, but I've never seen 3 before. Does having an odd number of beats reverse the direction? |
