Well a while ago there was a request for poi tuition vid annotation (i.e. the newer vids, which dont have any words along with the videos).
So if you ever find time to doss at work, write one up.

lol, that would help a great deal, its never good to start a tuition essay with 'Well, I can't actually do it, but it can't be THAT hard...'

Hey folks, Splinter here, one of the mods from DMP, nice to see we get some interest - yes your correct with why we changed the invite system over was due to random bogus users taking up space that could be better used. Tony, if your interested i can try organise an invite for you. As for others, just join the waiting list, its a well known part of the forum and members are helping out where they can

DoMorePoi operates the invitation system for membership because the site bandwidth & lesson content was being used for financial gain by others. Basically, people were running Poi workshops for money, and pointing their paying pupils to use DMP's lessons for out of hours practice. Not very sporting really in the big picture. So for this reason, we closed the doors. We just couldn't afford the cost of the bandwidth being leeched every month by people who just wanted to use us for their own gain.

Anyone is welcome to join, and all you need to do is send an email to the address on the homepage. If you include a donation of a tenner say, then you're straight to the top of the list and myself or Spin will invite you straight away, or you can join the bottom of the list and wait. Our members see the new invites, and if it's interesting or they like the sound of the person, then they can buy an invite for them. Someone sent in some pics of them spinning fire, and got an invite the next day. I also invite one or two every day regardless, from the top of the list so it ticks over quite quickly. So asking PoiPoi forums for membership to DoMorePoi isn't really the best way to get on there, is it? Confused

ahem Smile hey all, tis me, spin (the guy that made dmp)

listen.. im really sorry about the hassle this is causing some people but honestly, i had no choice, the site is paid for out of my own pocket and i really am quite skint indeed, as well as the reasons rusty has posted above i also had to make the decision last year wether to carry on with it or not, the place used to be a humble likkle project that i thought may or may not be useful to people, then other people started making lessons and it got more and more content, this had the effect of drawing more and more hits which in turn kept costing more and more money, by october last year we either needed to step up a gear in hosting, bottleneck it or switch it off.. the first was impossible, the last was just a shame to even think about so we went with the invites thing coz this solved the spambot problem, the problem that rusty mentioned above and the hosting costs situation all in one.

like i say on the log in page tho, this state of affairs wont be forever, i do need to figure out how i am gonna pay for it before i can open the doors to all again tho, im working on it believe me, domorepoi is supposed to be about making it easy to learn and i do realise that this way of doing things kinda flys in the face of that, it bothers me and im working on solutions.

aj, if you pm me i will make sure you get an invite, its a pain when you have no one to learn with eh ? tis what t'internets all about after all eh ? Smile
