Hello, another newbie here from herts, i decided to learn poi after being very impressed with fire spinners while on holiday in Thailand, the little guys there are so good at it they make it look easy!

however i'm not the smallest bloke around (6'2 an nearly 18 stone) and ive discovered this makes it a whole lot easier to whack yourself about the place!!.. so far i can do some simple stuff like butterfly, reel turns, and the 3 beat forward thing, im not brill at em but i'll get better!! Very Happy

plus while teaching meself the forward 3 beat thing i started doing a similar move but my arms only cross once on one side of my body does this have a name?
p.s the tutorials on this site are soo helpfull!! many thanks to whomever does em!!

Hey monkey!
I'm sure the Chief will be pleased at your kind comments re: tuition.
Fire spinning rocks! Get practicing and then you'll be confident enough to give it a bash. What poi are you spinning with currently? The ones on this site are suh-weet.

The move you're describing is just called 'body crossing'. It's usually the first step towards learning a weave.
