The Butterfly
'The butterfly' is one of those crucial moves you come across every so often whilst learning poi. You wouldn't believe it, but this unadventurous move becomes the base for a whole world of exciting moves. As Bart Simpson once said, "no one ever suspects the butterfly" he was so right!
1) Start with the poi held at arms length infront of your body.
2) Swing the poi inwards so they are spinning in time and slowly move your hands closer together until one hand is above the other.
3) Your wrists should be very relaxed and should be creating small circles. One hand should be slightly infront of the other to stop the poi hitting each other.
