Split Thread the Needle

So your threading the needle better than a seamstress! This extension of 'thread the needle' often provokes a confused response from spinners and non-spinners alike. It's a bit different and better still looks more complicated to learn than it actually is...!

The description below describes one full cycle of the 'alternate thread the needle'. The best way to get into this move is to begin spinning the 'alternate butterfly'.

1) As the poi being held by arm 1 (left or right, you decide!) rises towards your shoulder pull arm 1 back towards your body and cross it over arm 2 at the elbow crease.

2) Arm 2 should immediately start to travel back towards your body from under arm 1 and cross over the top.

3) This is the point at which the 'thread the needle' rhythm will feel slightly different, although the arm movements are ultimately the same. The most obvious change is that the arm pushing forwards will always stay infront of your body for a whole spin on its own while the other pulls back.

4) Remember to keep the poi spinning alternately!

Confused?! ...me too, and I'm writing it! this is one of those moves that needs to be seen!
